Rotary District 6110 Medical Supply Network, Inc. is taking donations to purchase PUR WATERBOXES to ship to Haiti. Each one costs $150 and contains 240 packets of material, enough to purify 5,072 16-ounce bottles of water per box, said Larry Biron, director of the medical supply network.
"They're proven to be very effective. They're designed for an emergency of this kind," Biron said. "The biggest problem they'll have is potable drinking water. These boxes fit an immediate need."
Biron said the military and FedEx will be transporting the water boxes to Haiti free of charge. The group will take donations through Wednesday before ordering the first shipment, he said.
"This will be an ongoing need for some time," Biron added. "I'll try to get some there as soon as possible."
Donations can be made by mailing checks to
Medical Supplies Network, Inc., 1123 S. Erie, Tulsa, OK 74112.

are tax-deductible.
