Paula O'Dell Writers – Photographers – Designers.  Contribute articles or photography on assignment for the Bixby Rotarian the club’s newsletter. Articles of all lengths include stories on club events, programs and interesting members. Time involved: all year

Memorials
Loren Arnoff Arrange appropriate invocations for all Rotary meetings.
When necessary, arrange for suitable memorials.

Trena Thomas Promotes the club’s programs and activities by generating media publicity. Creates awareness and fosters a strong, positive image of the club to attract new members. Arrange for coverage by local media for speakers and special Club projects. Time involved: all year

All Bixby Rotarians are candidates for leading the pledge.
Technology Jim Weems Investigate & implement ways to improve the Club through
new technology. Present to the Club different ways
technology might improve their lives and businesses.

Visitors Loren Arnoff Members of this committee welcome guests and visiting Rotarians to our Wednesday meetings by staffing the guest table and introducing guests from the podium during the meeting. Choose one or both! It’s a great way to get to know other Rotarians and add a bit of fun and friendliness to the meeting.

Committee plans the annual Service Above Self Award honoring members who have committed their time and resources to the community.
Washington Irving Park Improvements Buster McCurtain This committee works in conjunction with the City of Bixby and the Friends of Washington Irving Park to make park improvements.

Community
Action Team
Vacant This committee will allow its members to “serve better” with something more than their dollars. We will be helping many of the area's not-for-profit organizations with our time and desire to get things done. On a monthly basis, we'll be visiting one of our local organizations to work on easy and fun projects to further the organization's mission for a half day project. Also, we will participate in the United Way Day of Caring as one of our projects. Come join us and get the feeling of accomplishment that comes from “hands on work” and receive the genuine appreciation of those we help!
Community Fund Grants Past Presidents The Community Projects Committee purpose is to review grant requests, and to recommend financial support for non-profit organizations in Bixby. Every member of the committee is encouraged to participate in the review and approval process. Time involved: monthly all year and some offsite
Choices Kim Hood

CHOICES is an interactive, decision-making workshop that empowers teens to achieve academic success in pursuit of their career and life aspirations Through the real life experiences of our Rotarians, our students discover that they can take charge of their lives by making the wise choiceS in their everyday decisions.  Three meetings beginning in Sept-Nov.

Salvation Army Bellringers Jim Ferris Coordinate volunteers to assist the Salvation Army for one day during the holiday season. Time involved: mid-Nov. to early Dec.
Up With Trees Steve Gross Continue the club’s historic support of Up With Trees by
planting and maintaining trees to beautify Tulsa.
Time involved: fall and spring hands on work
  JERI STRANGE INTERNATIONAL SERVICE
International Projects Jeri Strange The goal of the International Projects Committee is the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service. Although our primary focus for Rotary Year 2008-2009 will be Vision Quest, Medical Supplies, and Clean Water, the committee will be open to other opportunities that may present themselves. Time involved: all year.
Rotary Foundation Jeri Strange Promote growth in member contributions to The Rotary Foundation; plan TRF program in November; publicize availability of international scholarships and fellowships. Interview and recommend candidates. Promote the recognition programs of The Rotary Foundation. Time involved: quarterly
Youth Exchange Mike Gately Coordinate Youth Exchange activities, including screening outbound students, recruiting counselors for inbound students and host families for inbound students. Time involved: all year
  VACANT VOCATIONAL SERVICE
Attendance Board of Directors Active club attendance is vital. Members of this committee work together to remind Rotarians of their attendance commitments and encourage their participation at weekly meetings.
Time involved: monthly rotation 5-6 times/yr.
Classifications Board of Directors Review applications, determine classification, present qualified candidates to the Board for club membership. Time involved:  monthly
Membership Rolf Hufnagel Coordinate membership development activities. Follow up on new member referrals. Time involved: all year
New Member Orientation Rolf Hufnagel Each new member of the Rotary Club of Bixby will receive New Member Orientation after induction to the club. Sponsors will monitor their progress by using the New Member Checklist.  The committee will review orientation materials, presentations, and participate in the orientation meetings.  Time involved:  monthly
Rotary Cares Angela Hock Insure that ill or hospitalized Rotarians receive get well greetings and in times of a death or serious situation in a Rotarian’s family, organize expressions of care and concern. Time involved: as needed all year
Social Events Vacant Coordinate seasonal social events.
Time involved: as scheduled, 4-6 yearly
Red to Blue Rolf Hufnagel Coordinate progress of new members toward blue badges. Conduct regular meetings to cover complete orientation into Rotary. Time involved: monthly
  MIKE GATELY YOUTH SERVICE
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Mike Gately

The Bixby Rotary Club sends at least four students a year to the Salvation Army Retreat Conference Facility in Tahlequah.  RYLA provides a way for our club to support the next generation of leaders.  At workshops, camp participants develop leadership, communications, and problem solving skills while having fun making new friends. Time involved: as needed all year

High School Scholarships

Harry Hanig Each year three high students are chosen to receive a two thousand dollar college scholarship.  Four meeting a years beginning in January thru April.
Immunization Dr. Wayne Leimbach It is an opportunity to assist in the prevention of
communicable diseases in our children and elderly.
Time involved: one month March-April
Third Grade Dictionary Project Brad Steiben

Last year the Bixby Rotary Club distributed over 700 dictionaries to Third Grade students in Bixby, Liberty, Mounds, and Haskell.  Requires three meetings about 1 hour and ½ day distributing the books.

Shop With A Cop Chance Walstad &
Sherry Barbour
Shop With a Cop is a cooperative youth intervention program involving the local Fraternal Order of Police, Rotary Club and Wal-Mart. At-risk youth are selected to participate in a Christmas shopping trip for their families (including wrapping of gifts), and have lunch with police officers and Rotarians. A fun and heartwarming holiday experience.
Time involved: Oct. to early Dec.
Youth Activities
(4-Way Speech)
Patty Holderman Coordinate the Club’s youth activities. Two specific projects include conducting Rotary Club of Tulsa’s “Four-Way Test” Speech Contest that offers an opportunity for students to compete at the local level for a $500 award. The winner then competes at the district level for the opportunity to win a $1,000 grant from the district. Time involved: Sept thru early Feb.
